African reliquary figures became the inspiration for the avant -garde during the 19th-20th century. This drawing is adapted from a guardian figure from the Bogota area, Gabon-19th to 20th century

...Born in a close knit community named Lionel Town, bordering on the world famous sugar producing "Money MuskEstates" in the parish of Clarendon,Jamaica, Kippax was passionate about drawing from an early age, drawing countless portraits on slate, of his paternal grand uncle, Uncle Joe, underneath the family guinep tree. "Send the boy to draw my picture,"he would often say to my grandmother, his sister, Kippax remembers. Kippax won an academic scholarship to the prestigious Kingston College in Jamaica's capital city, but passionately pursued his love of drawing when he arrive in New York. ...
